Is Irsay really still sober?

Jim Irsay is the owner that loves to hear himself talk.  Up to now I am not sure if it has really hurt his team but come Sunday night he might have wished he kept that pie hole of his shut this week.  Here is what he had to say.

“We’ve changed our model a little bit, because we wanted more than one of these,” Irsay says, flicking up his right hand to show his Super Bowl XLI championship ring.

“(Tom) Brady never had consistent numbers, but he has three of these,” Irsay adds. “Pittsburgh had two, the Giants had two, Baltimore had two and we had one. That leaves you frustrated.

“You make the playoffs 11 times, and you’re out in the first round seven out of 11 times. You love to have the Star Wars numbers from Peyton and Marvin (Harrison) and Reggie (Wayne).

If you ask me that is a direct shot at one Payton Manning.  I am sure Irsay will say it wasn’t but you can’t take it any other way.  You have a situation that turned out best for both teams in my mind.  Payton got a new life in a place that put a good line and talent around him.  The Colts got a quarterback to build around that can win for 10 more years.  Why on earth would a man who claims he is now sober say what he did?

Sure would not be surprised if Manning takes these comments to watch 5 extra minutes of films to make sure he hangs at least 45 against his old team.

The only thing that can derail a franchise that has been at the top of the NFL for that last decade is the man at the top.  Someone needs to get to him and put a muzzle on him before he turns into this guy.
