Colts-Rams Preview

The surging Colts face the flailing St. Louis Rams today at Lucas Oil Stadium. It should be an easy victory for the Colts, right? Not so fast my friend. Jeff Fischer coached teams seem to always elevate their play when battling the Colts. How many out gunned Titans teams closely challenged the Colts in the past? The gap is not too large between the two squads. Fischer may not have to resort to grab bagging and onside kicks and going for it every series. He still may have a trick up his sleeve whether it be a fake punt or halfback pass.

The Rams defense is stout. The Colts pass protection and run blocking is suspect at best. If Luck is under a frequent barrage of blitzers and misblocked linebackers, look for more than a few 3 and outs. Also, let’s see how T.Y. Hilton responds to more attention. Coby Fleener and DHB, if they can catch the ball, could one or both reach 100 yards receiving. I’m not holding my breath.

On defense the Colts still have a JV secondary and down to the 4th string cornerbacks. That may result in some big plays for the Rams.

Ultimately, the Colts should have more than enough fire power to take care of business at home against the Rams. The Colts are due for some turnovers which will level the playing field. Just when you think you have this team figured out, they surprise you, for better or worse. That is why is am picking the Rams in an upset. Prediction: 27-16 Rams
