Christmas Music at the BDS Headquarters

We are only a few short days from Christmas and you are probably getting sick of the same old Christmas music you hear every single year.  Well luckily I have just what you need to make you forget all the crap you just heard at the mall earlier today.  Here are some of my favorite non-traditional Christmas jams that are getting played at the BDS South headquarters this year.

1. Back Door Santa-The Black Crowes

You knew I would have a Black Crowes song on this list.  Check out their ferocious version of the Clarence Carter classic “Back Door Santa”.  I think Santa delivers weed to the back door and not through the chimney.

2. Run Run Rudolph-Keith Richards

My favorite Rolling Stone doing a great version of the Chuck Berry classic.  On a related note you should watch the documentary “Hail! Hail! Rock ‘n’ Roll” just to see Chuck Berry get in Keef’s ass about his guitar playing.  There are not a lot of people that can get away with talking shit to Keith about his guitar playing.  Chuck Berry is one of them.

3. Little Drummer Boy-Bob Seger

This is the best version I have ever heard of this song.  Bob Seger’s voice sounds great and he is able to put his signature sound on the song without straying too far from the traditional version you are used to hearing.

4. Merry Christmas Baby- Otis Redding

The greatest soul singer of all time.  He could sing anything and it would sound great.  The most soulful version of any Christmas song you will hear.

5. Happy Xmas (War is Over)-John Lennon

One of my favorite Christmas songs of all time.  Phil Spector produced this song and you can definitely hear his influence on this song.  This song never gets old.
