What a slow time for sports

Is it just me or am I the only one looking at the sports world and am a little board? Now, I am really looking forward to the annual Kentucky vs. Louisville battle on Saturday but I know that many of the BDS followers probably won’t catch it.  I have been in a Christmas coma for the past week or so and thought I would wake up and turn on the radio and search the web to see everything that I missed.  All I found out is I haven’t missed much if anything at all.

The NFL is coming to the end of the regular season and all ESPN can tell us is how great this upcoming weekend is going to be but I don’t get the feeling that Colts fans or Bengals fans for that matter really care about this weekend.  Sure both fan bases would love to see a first round bye but both are in the playoffs.  Both teams are going to be home for their first playoff game and both fan bases seem to be in that “we are not real sure how good we are” mode.  I thing we will all be excited when the playoffs get here but for right now????  Not really.

The Pacers are rolling and didn’t have to wear those horrible Christmas Day uniforms the NBA rolled out yesterday but I’m I the only one that is in wake me up when the playoffs start mode?  They are going to be a 1 or 2 overall seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs but I really can’t get into scoreboard watching Heat games in December.

College basketball is in that period right now when teams play every 15 days and when they do you get match-ups that include teams like Kenneshaw St. (not sure if that is how it is spelled but they suck so bad does it really matter?) and some directional school from Tennessee.  There are a couple good games this weekend like Nova vs. Cuse and UK vs. UofL but I think we all want the conferences to start and can’t really wait till March.

You get the point.  Maybe I am having a Christmas hangover but I there is really nothing out there that is getting me real excited.  I am not sure you really need another post about how much I can’t stand Rick Pitino.  (I still think he is the devil and hopes he dies of syphilis if you care about those things.)

Looks like a good time to score some points with the wife and see that chick flick she wants to see or take the kids to a high school game.  Here are some movie and game ideas till the NFL playoffs start.

  • American Hustle
  • Dallas Buyers Club
  • Gravity

  • Zionsville Tournament – Decatur Central vs. Zionsville & Franklin Central vs. South Bend Washington
