Just admit it Louisville, you have no soul.

Frankly the rest of the collegiate sports world today has written you off as the joke you are.  Today you made a choice, you are the school that is run by your AD and not the President.  You are the school that cares less about your players and support staff than you do about wins.  Today you have lost any ability to ever tell me anything good about the school or team achievement.  Today you have officially embraced and own being the laughing-stock of the NCAA world.

I have been saying since the handling of the Pitino/Sypher episode that Louisville has no soul but Louisville fans continued to preach how Pitino was the victim, how the players truly love the school and each other and how everyone has embraced the L1C4 (Louisville 1st, Cardinals 4-ever) moniker.

Let’s start with the defending National Champion basketball team and their coach.  This is an university that decided they wanted the face of their students, fans and faculty to be a lying, cheating, manipulating D-bag.  This Roman Catholic, in a town with a large percentage of Catholics, paid for a whore’s abortion and then lied to cover it up as long as he could.  He is the face of your school.

In this world of one and done Cardinal fans say their players are L1C4, they love the school and each other.  Then why can’t they stay sober just long enough to not let each other down.  Why can’t they stay out of trouble just long enough to give their brothers a chance to win another title.  That is one of the most selfish things you can do but I do understand that kids make mistakes.  But kids will continue to make the same mistakes when your coaches and athletic department cares more about wins than the lives they promised the  families of those players they would help build.  When they cover up and cater to the behavior then of course the behavior will continue until the school itself finally steps in and says enough is enough.

Louisville is heading to the ACC next year.  There is another school heading to the ACC next year, Notre Dame.  Let’s take a quick look at the difference of these two schools.  Within the past year Notre Dame kicked it’s best football and basketball players out of school.  Not suspend them till they play Kentucky and you have players in foul trouble.  Not make them wake up early to work out.  Kicked them out.  Once again this was Everet Golson and Jerian Grant.  Golson was the quarterback that just had lead them to an undefeated season and National Championship game and the leading scorer and assist maker of the basketball team.  This is the equivalent of Louisville catching Teddy Bridgewater and Russ Smith cheating on a test once and kicking them out of school.  That would never happen and if it did the fan base would revolt.  Instead, the fan base at Notre Dame backed the decision and put blame with the student athlete but also supported them in growing as a person and making the right decisions.  Both kids owned their mistakes and are better for it.  I have a feeling that Jerian Grant and Everet Golson will be much better people in this world than Chane Behanan and Kevin Ware ever will be.

I am five hundred words in and still have not gotten to what is about to happen in Louisville.

Bobby Petrino will be named the head football coach at Louisville once again.  Yes, the same Bobby Petrino that spurned Louisville to make a jump to the NFL.  The same Bobby Petrino that left that NFL team in the middle of a season to take another job.  The same Bobby Petrino that created a position in the football program at Arkansas for his mistress and then lied about what happened to him (still lying about this one) when that mistress’s fieance got ahold of him.  The same Bobby Petrino that is hated by everyone that has ever worked for him including many who still work in the Louisville athletic department.  The same Bobby Petrino that left your program with nothing but troubled recruits and police reports.  That same AD I’m sure will stand up and talk about how he is a changed man and deserves a second chance.  Changed man, not a chance in hell, deserves a second chance.  No one deserves a second chance.  You earn second chances and all Bobby has done is coach one team for one year before jumping ship.  Seems like the same old Bobby to me.  You say I’m biased, well lets hear from one of the most respected men in all of football, Mike Zimmer.  This is what Zim has to say to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

On going back to Atlanta, Zimmer said about that season “I was never even there. As far as I am concerned. I never even was there. When a coach quits in the middle of the year and ruins a bunch of people’s families and doesn’t’ have enough guts to at least finish out the year. I am not a part of that.”  Pretty good stuff, but it gets even better in his appraisal of Petrino:  “He is a coward. Put that in quotes. He ruined a bunch of people’s lives, a bunch of people’s families, kids, because he didn’t have enough nuts to stay there and finish the job. That’s the truth.”  When asked if he had seen a two days like that before, where the Falcons lost on Monday Night Football, a coach resigns and then is doing “Woo Pig Sooie” 24 hours later in front of Arkansas boosters, Zimmer said: “No, most people in football have enough courage about them and enough fight to stick through something and not quit halfway through the year. It is cowardly.  “He came in and said he resigned, he would talk to us all at a later date, walked out of the office and no one has ever talked to him since. Not that anybody wanted to.  “He’s a gutless b—–d. Quote that. I don’t give a s—.”  When told that we might might not be able to use the B word, Zimmer went one better: “How about this, gutless MF. You can use that.”

Well said Zim.

That is who you are choosing to be your next coach.  The thing about it is I just don’t think you can help yourself.  You know the baggage but choose to do it any way.  You do not have to hire him.  Louisville can go out and hire a great coach and not the scumbag that no major school would even interview one short year ago.  Let me repeat that, could not even get an interview.  But Louisville only knows one way of doing things so they make the only move they can make.  Hire Bobby Petrino.
