Three bold predictions for this years college basketball season

I know that we are in the stretch run of the college football season.  The NFL is starting to get back some of their criminals for the stretch run and the NBA is doing whatever they do, well except Derrick Rose, he has meetings to prepare for.  But guess what, it’s time for college basketball to kick off.  Here are three bold predictions for the upcoming season.

  1. No Indiana schools will make the tournament.  Well at least not the tournament that counts.  The schools with the best chance will probably be the smaller schools like IPFW.  With all the talent this state developes you have to blame it on coaching.  Gone are the days when the big three had guys named Gene, Bob and Digger and when Stevens left for the NBA there is not one top 20 coach left in the state.
  2. The Hoosiers will win 15 games and Tom Crean will still be the coach this time next year.  Everyone keeps telling me how good Indiana is going to be this year and I just don’t see it.  This team might be a better shooting team (maybe) but will not be able to rebound or guard my wife.  The Crean thing is simple.  The buy out will be to big to pay when the powers to be realize they will not be able to land the type of coach they want.
  3. Kentucky hangs banner number nine.  Ok that one isn’t bold since they are 9-2 favorites in Vegas to win it all but let me tell you when they lose.  Only once to Florida in the SEC Tournament Championship.

It doesn’t seem like that long ago UConn was beating Kentucky to win it all.  To remind you how great it is and get you ready for the season here is last year’s One Shining Moment.

Enjoy the year and good luck to everyone’s favorite team.  Yes, even the Hoosiers.
