It seems like the rumored Tom Crean’s status as the Head Coach of Indiana changes as much as the weather in the past 24 – 48 hours.  This is what BDS has heard and our best guess of what is happening in B-Town.

  • Tom Crean is basically gone. He is currently looking for another job and is negotiating a buyout.  His wife wants out of Bloomington also as Tom has worn out his welcome with pretty much everyone involved with the University including the school president.
  • The administration is all in on Brad Stevens.  He will be their first and the job is his until he says no.  Basically IU is taking a page out of the Michigan playbook when they went after Harbaugh.  (that Alanis Morissette is actual irony)
  • Brad Stevens is rumored to as least listen.  It sounds like he will answer the phone and hear the IU powers to be out but nothing more than that at this point.  This is still a long shot and I have been saying for months that the timing of a Stevens to IU move is just not right.  The difference between him and Harbaugh is the 49’ers did not want Jim, the Celtics as this point wants Brad to stay.
  • Five names keep coming up if Stevens says no.  Billy Donavan, Gregg Marshall, Shaka Smart, Archie Miller and possibly Thad Matta.  No Karen, Mark Few is not on the list, sorry.

So now you know what we know.  Make sure to keep checking bask as NickD and I will keep you updated.  Also make sure to follow along on Twitter, @NicktotheD and @BDSlider
