Songs of Summer Past

Posted: July 7, 2015 by jmklee in Uncategorized

Every year the wife and I load up the girls in the family truckster and head out on the road Griswold style.  Having four females in the car with me for extended amounts of time I am only allowed to listen to so much AM radio and podcasts before they squash it.  But something cool usually happens every year.  We find a song that seems to always be on that becomes our theme and every time I hear it today it takes be back to that summer’s vacation.  Good stuff right?  Well let me give you a peek into my world and you can judge for yourself.

2014’s Vacation Song – Demi Lavato “Really Don’t Care”

2013’s Vacation Song – Burl Ives “We are Santa’s Elves”

Full discloser on this one.  We rented a van and drove to Martha’s Vineyard and the van had a DVD player.  The little one would only allow us to play Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and for the record you can watch that show 21 times between Boston and Indianapolis.

2012’s Vacation Song – Carly Rae Jepsen “Call Me Maybe”

I think we played this song over 100 times that week.  We even had a family walk up to the car, tap on the window and give us thumbs up because they could hear us jamming out and obviously were as crazy as we were.

Now I know we can not be the only family to have these odd memories.  What are some of your summer songs of the past from camp or vacation.
