If you’ve ever been to the BDS man cave then you know I have a special place in my heart for the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” USA hockey team.  So when I see that Jim Craig is putting some of him most coveted memorabilia up for sale it perks my ears.  Click the link here to purchase such items as Craig’s uniform, equipment and the flag he draped over his shoulders after they beat the Russians.  Oh, bring your checkbook or maybe your richest friend’s checkbook.

images-49Today was a huge day for sports news.  You had NFL and deflate gate along with MLB trades almost every hour.  Big stories yes, but far from the most interesting and entertaining.  This afternoon Query & Schultz on Fox Sports 97.5 FM did one of their Catching Up With interviews and today they spoke to a Indiana basketball blast from the past, Marco Killingsworth.  To my surprise Marco was very candid in his remarks regarding his time at IU, his relationship with Coach Mike Davis and didn’t pull any punches speaking about the college basketball landscape.  Take time to listen, you can thank me when your done.  You don’t have to be an Indiana fan to enjoy this gem.

Here is the email that I just received from the Cincinnati Reds announcing the Pete Rose bobblehead night.  Everyone in attendance will receive one.

Baseball’s all-time hits leader Pete Rose will be the third and final player featured in the Cincinnati Reds “Stars of the Queen City” bobblehead series for 2015.

The first-time-ever gate giveaway of a Pete Rose bobblehead will be given to ALL FANS in attendance at the Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals game on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 1:05 p.m. The giveaway celebrates the 30th anniversary of Rose’s record-breaking hit no. 4,192 on Sept. 11, 1985. The Pete Rose bobblehead is presented by Queen City Sausage, as part of Super Saturdays at Great American Ball Park.

Rose joins Johnny Bench (May 16) and Barry Larkin (June 6) as the three “Stars of the Queen City” bobbleheads in the 2015 collectible series. Rose made 13 All-Star Game appearances in a Reds uniform (17 total) while Bench appeared in 14 All-Star Games (the most in Reds history) and Larkin made 12 appearances in the Midsummer Classic.

Big Butter Urban

Posted: July 28, 2015 by jmklee in Uncategorized

thSo the state that brought you Big Butter Jesus has now brought you Big Butter Urban Meyer.  Now I can’t be the only one that thinks that Urban has the look of a man that is 10 to 12 beers into the night and is about to water the backyard.  If there was only a way to get the butter sculpture to sway back and forth and look up at the stars there would be no doubt about it.  Well if nothing else it gives us a reason to play this.

Who wants to go to Hawaii?

Well the Indiana Hoosiers are heading to beautiful Maui for the Maui Inventational Nov 23-25. The bracket draw has been released.

There is a lot to love about minor league baseball but the thing I love the best is the promotion nights this clubs run to put fannies in the seats.  Here lately we have seen many great ideas like Star Wars nights, Dog nights and dollar beer night.  What could go wrong with dollar beer night?  But I might have seen my favorite.  The Norfolk Tides gives us…

Something tells me if the Indianapolis Indians was doing this the girls would be dragging me to the ball park.  I mean I did have to hang out in the pineapple under the sea at Universal Studio Orlando for an uncomfortably long time with the little one who would have stayed the night if she could have.  After sitting in there with her for about 20 minutes parents of other kids are looking in to make sure there is no bad touch going on and giving you the stink eye for taking up space in the 5×5 fake pineapple but Luci loved it and even had to dress like the master of the griddle as she ran through the splash park.

Anyway, make sure to take time to support a minor league team in your area.  You never know what you will see.

Have you noticed?  BDS has its first advertiser!!!  I am happy to welcome the Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. to the BDS family and excited to spread the word about the great products they are putting out.  Make sure to click on the logo and take a stroll through the website.  When in Louisville take time to stop by for a tour of the distillery and try a sample or two of the tasty Lucky Moonshine.  (My favorite flavor is the Chocolate Pie and the wife’s fave is the Lemon Drop)  Located steps from the Ohio river in the heart of downtown makes this an easy must stop.
