Guess What? FOOTBALL IS BACK

Summer is officially over for all practical purposes.  There will still be hot days, you will still have to mow the yard and yes, you will still be able to take the dog out at night in your boxers and not freeze your nuts off.  But fall is here!

I hope everyone had a family fun filled summer.  I know I tried to squeeze in as much as I could so I could safely tell the four women that run the BDS compound to keep it down, the game is on.  Oh, and grab me a beer will you.

The games start Thursday night with the kick off to the college season and here are 5 things to watch this upcoming season.

This is a HUGE season for Brian Kelly and his ND future.  This years Irish team has the talent and the schedule to make a run to the Final Four.  Coach Kelly is not shying away from the expectations and is embracing the build up to this season.  Not only is he telling every reporter who will ask what the goals are but is letting Showtime take us all behind the curtain.  Prediction:  ND goes 11-1 and makes the Final Four.

The SEC will take a step back this year.  The SEC will still be the best conference in the land but the difference between them and the rest is getting pretty tight.  This is a weird year for the SEC where the bottom half will be better (except Vandy) and the Top will not be as dominate.  This is the year that we might not see a SEC team in the Final Four if everyone as at least two losses.  Prediction:  No SEC team will make the Final Four

Will the BIG10 repeat?  Once again it appears to be a two team race between Sparty and the Buckeyes.  When in doubt don’t bet against Urban.  The real thing to watch will be the mushroom cloud in Ann Arbor this year.  Of course Michigan thinks the Golden Child will bring them back but I just don’t see the Harbaugh era ending well and this year will be a disaster.  Prediction:  Ohio St. beats Michigan St again and will make the Final Four.

Will this be the year for the little guy?  This is the year that you will see a non-blueblood team or two make the Final Four.  Other than TCU and Baylor that everyone is talking about, keep an eye on some other teams to crash the party like Boise St., BYU, Arizona St. and get this Western Kentucky.  I know, the Hilltoppers have no real shot at the Final Four but if they beat a SEC (Vandy) and BIG10 (IU) team and don’t get their doors blown off at LSU they might make a New Year’s Day bowl.  Prediction: TCU will make the Final Four leaving the rest on the outside looking in.

The PAC12 will be fun to watch.  This year you will want to do your best to pace yourself Saturday afternoons so you can stay up to watch the west coast games.  This year the PAC12 is deep and loaded with great offenses.  Cal, Arizona, Arizona St., USC, Oregon, and UCLA should be averaging 30+ points a game this year.  Couple that with drunk coaches and you have a recipe for fun.  Prediction:  Oregon is still Oregon and will run through their way to the Final Four.

If you have been paying attention you now have the BDS bold prediction for this years Final Four.
